Job Description:
Provides high quality, innovative and strategically aligned web, multimedia, print, UX, and interactive design solutions that meet organizational needs for internal and external audiences at a national nonprofit and one of the largest grantmakers in the United States. Uses advanced expertise and conceptual understanding of business priorities to drive organizational growth, promote and enhance brand strategy, and contribute to a positive user experience. Owns the delivery timeline and execution of graphic design strategy for multiple initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop concepts and creatively execute design for web, multimedia, email, print, and more with the goal of marketing a Vanguard Charitable donor-advised fund, driving further engagement from existing clients, and converting new prospective clients.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously; produce deliverables with quality and accuracy to meet time, budget, and organization needs, with an emphasis on creativity, storytelling, and deep conceptual understanding.
  • Generate a variety of design concepts and creative briefs for assigned projects and deliverables that are tailored to client needs. Proactively research and brainstorm ideas with peers, incorporate feedback thoughtfully, move viable ideas to implementation, and reflect on key learnings for future projects.
  • Analyze complex data and industry concepts to transform them into artistic design and layout solutions for material that optimizes target audience engagement. Demonstrate familiarity with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve user experience, as well as the success of marketing strategies.
  • Demonstrate expert understanding of design technologies and devices and pursue continuous learning to evolve and stay updated in an ever-changing field. Leverage this knowledge to produce technically achievable and efficient interactive solutions. Stay abreast of Vanguard Charitable’s competitive landscape, as well as the charitable and donor-advised fund sectors.
  • Develop, evolve, and champion Vanguard Charitable brand standards including, but not limited to, visual, data, and UX style; provide support to internal business partners on implementing brand standards.
  • Drive conversations across the entire organization to explain how our creative strategy can differentiate Vanguard Charitable and its products. Collaborate across marketing and related teams to implement agreed-upon creative ideas in brainstorming, planning, prioritizing, and executing stages.
  • Manage certain vendor/freelancer relationships, with guidance and direction from supervisor. As assigned, lead and manage digital/print production initiatives and relationships and exercise decision-making authority.
  • Refine and apply testing and quality assurance in accordance with Vanguard Charitable processes. Demonstrate understanding of technical execution in areas such as email rendering, text conversation, layout, and printing, ensuring a high-quality experience for users.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree (BA, BFA) in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of creative development and design experience with three years in an advertising agency environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver) and with video development and editing software.
  • Demonstrated experience in creative briefs and design concepts development.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary graphic design practices and concepts, including familiarity with UI/UX principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with CMS such as Drupal or WordPress, with knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with Pardot email platform and Salesforce a bonus.
  • Possesses strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform and direct multiple tasks.
  • Full knowledge of offset print production.
  • Understanding and application of web design and video.
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic sector or eagerness to learn.
