Position Description:
The Franklin Institute – one of America’s most celebrated museums – is seeking a Designer, Creative Services, to join our team. The Designer, Creative Services will work with various departments, executing projects in alignment with the visual brand identity and design standards of The Franklin Institute. The Designer will coordinate with other departments in the approval process of all assigned projects and is responsible to produce an on time, on budget, high quality product. The Designer will work in a fast-paced environment and will be part of a small design team, which is part of a larger Experiences department.


The Designer, Creative Services will also be responsible for:

• Design of various medium (Examples include: environmental design, brochures, postcards, invitations, print/digital advertising, activity sheets, event collateral, flyers + more, digital signage, presentations, booklets, annual reports, etc.)
• Communicate effectively with museum colleagues and vendor contacts.
• Responsible for all phases of projects including estimating, design, production, purchasing, proofing and archiving.
• Participation in creative team brainstorming including messaging and design for all special exhibit-marketing campaigns. Design and implementation and of various exhibition marketing materials including large format signage, banners, transit advertising, and print advertising.
• Develop and produce digital advertising for web ads and banner ads in html 5.
• Design and content management of dynamic digital signage including the maintenance of messaging and templates to ensure accurate information is on display on digital signage throughout the museum.
• Assist in maintenance of the museum’s wayfinding signage system.
• Assist in repair and replacement of exhibit graphics in exhibitions as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with museum colleagues and vendor contacts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Graphic Design
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant print and digital experience required
• Strong portfolio showing a range of print and digital projects
• Knowledge and experience of both 2D and 3D graphic design
• Expert knowledge of Mac environment and Adobe Creative Cloud – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, & Acrobat
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel/PowerPoint
• Experience with motion graphics/After Effects preferred
• Experience in Environmental, Experiential, and Wayfinding Design preferred
• Copywriting experience a plus
• Experience in Scala and FileMaker a plus
