How You Will Contribute
The Graphic Designer works as a team with fellow designers, clients, editors, and a production manager under the direction of the Museum’s Creative Director to create, present, and produce creative solutions that meet the Museum’s communications goals to enhance the visitor experience while maintaining brand identity standards. S/he manages many projects simultaneously from concept through completion, including print designs for publications, designs for Museum’s way finding, exhibitions, and installations, digital communications for applications, and internal graphic identity materials. This position receives close direction from the Senior Graphic Designer and Creative Director.
Specifically, you will…

  • Manage many projects simultaneously from concept through completion, including but not limited to the following:
  • Print designs for advertisements, brochures, fund-raising publications, newsletters, and invitations
  • Designs for special exhibitions, installations, and permanent collection rotations
  • Digital communications and animations for applications such as the Museum’s website, e-newsletters, web ads, and e-vites
  • Way finding/environmental, donor recognition, and temporary signage
  • Internal graphic identity materials
  • Be responsible for the creation of digital touch points and social media graphics
  • Research new digital and print vendors when necessary, obtaining pricing, facilitating approval of budget and graphics, preparing mech files
  • Oversee outside vendors for delivery and installation
Your diverse background includes…

  • BA/BS in Graphics Arts or related discipline
  • At least two years of graphic design work in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient in digital design with experience in on-line media a plus
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and e-mail design
  • Software mastery: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) in a Mac
  • Excellent communication skills (English) including writing, and ability to articulate design decisions in presentations
  • Previous experience working with large scale/environmental graphics a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact well with others
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to shift as priorities change
  • High level of energy, confidence, and a sense of humor
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess artistic clarity, creativity, innovation, and perception
  • Must have a portfolio of recent work to demonstrate required skills and abilities
