Join The University of the Arts for an opportunity to work with renowned type designer Hannes Famira, in a course geared toward design professionals. Font Design Lab will emphasize design and production of a unique digital typeface, or a unique set of letters for a particular technical or communication problem, such as wordmark. This course integrates hand skills and specialized professional digital type design software. This opportunity is not available to the public; limited seats open to AIGA members.
Instructor Hannes Famira is one of the most respected typeface designers and typeface educators practicing today. He was educated in typeface design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Netherlands, where he studied with Just van Rossum. Hannes has taught at the Basel School of Design and currently is on the faculty of the Cooper Union typeface program in New York City.
