Draw with Philadelphia-based illustrator, Jameela Wahlgren. This month we’ll be at WeWork Northern Liberties.
Learn more about Jameela's work and participate in a character drawing exercise using a list of nouns and adjectives provided by Jameela. Afterward, we'll all get together to make up back stories for the characters you draw.
We'll provide some paper and drawing supplies but we encourage you to bring your own as well. Feel free to BYO.
Registration is free and open to AIGA members and non-members, but we ask that you RSVP so that we can provide an appropriate amount of supplies.

Jameela's goal as an illustrator is to create worlds that people want to spend time in. Worlds that seem so real and detailed that you wish you could just will yourself into the picture frame. She's been influenced by artists like Hayao Miyazaki and Trina Schart Hyman, whose art captivated me as a kid and made me want to leave my bedroom behind and travel in their magic worlds. I hope to do the same for a new generation of art-lovers!
Jameela's clients include Disney Hyperion, Pinterest, Urban Outfitters, National Geographic Kids and Hachette Book Group.
Things that are important to Jameela: Intersectional feminism, enviromental sustainability, cheesy young adult fantasy novels, and literally any dog anywhere.
