AIGA Philly Night Caps, Episode #3: “Self-Promo Tactics”

Join us for the season finale of Night Caps, as host Mikey Ilagan invites local creative dynamoes Hilary Sedjwick, Britt Miller, and Mario Zucca to discuss the one of the biggest ongoing challenges for working creatives — effective "Self-Promo Tactics". Doors will open at 6:30pm, and taping runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Seating is limited, so register quickly and arrive early.

Hilary Sedgwick

Born and raised in Amherst, MA, Hilary moved to Philadelphia in 2000 to pursue a degree in photography from University of the Arts. Acknowledging her love for beautiful type, well-composed layouts and sharp identity work, she decided to declare Graphic Design as her major. While there she refined her skills in multiple areas including print, digital, typography, identity & photography.

Before joining the Allen & Gerritsen team in May 2011, Hilary worked at O3 World where she finessed her development skills and served in a number of positions with increasing responsibility, culminating in her appointment as the company’s Art Director. Because of her passion to create and grow as an artist, she can often be found at home working on any number of design/web projects. She is known to be a sucker for good cheese & most social occasions. In her free time she can be found riding her bike around the city, attending to every need of her 2 cats or thinking of another way to apply design to her everyday life.

Britt Miller

Britt Miller has been a lifelong creative, actively painting and selling artwork since 2004. Resonating with the creative vibes around her, she draws inspiration from life in Philadelphia with its unique people, neighborhoods, entertainment and nightlife.

She is represented by Bluestone Fine Art Gallery in Philadelphia, and her paintings have been featured in several Delaware Valley Fine Art exhibitions. She designed all artwork for the set of CBS3′s Talk Philly, designed a specialty truffle box for Teuscher Chocolates, designed custom press kits for the 2012-2013 GPTMC “With Art Philadelphia” campaign, designed all 2012 client holiday gifts for NBC10, and designed the cover artwork for the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2013 Book of Lists.

Beyond art, she’s an avid marathon runner, world traveler, business and tech geek, and chihuahua mom.

Mario Zucca

Mario hails from the town of Indiana (not the state) in the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania. In his own words, he is Indiana’s 2nd most celebrated son, and he imagines that some day his hometown will erect a statue of him next to that of fellow Indianaite, Jimmy Stewart.

Having earned his BFA from Tyler School of Art and his MFA from the University of Hartford, Mario has been illustrating for damn near a decade and has worked for a broad range of clients in the editorial, book, advertising, and institutional fields. He counts among his clients Time, Inc., The New York Times, ESPN Magazine, Maxim, the National Football League, the NFLPA, Crayola, Klutz, Quirk Books, and Tribal DDB.

Currently, Mario works out of his home studio in Philadelphia, PA and teaches illustration at Tyler School of Art and Philadelphia University.
