Community Event: Urban Share Junkets

After successful and informative pilot junkets in Chicago and Philadelphia in 2018, Urban Share Junkets is gearing up for another curated Philadelphia Tour.

Urban Share Junkets (USJ) offers direct connection with city practitioners who are doing innovative and valuable work around equitable development. These guided “field trips” offer a unique opportunity for professionals across industries to build inter-city relationships and share holistic best practices that can shape how cities evolve.

Over a single weekend, participants from all over the country will attend in-depth tours of repurposed sites in Philadelphia, including visits to:

Shift Capital in Harrowgate: A real estate impact group that deploys an inclusive and concentrated development model, which seeks to minimize the negative impacts of gentrification while positively impacting communities suffering from inter-generational poverty.

Jumpstart Germantown: A unique community development program, spearheaded by Philly Office Retail, that works to revitalize the Germantown section of Philadelphia and surrounding communities by providing training, mentoring, networking opportunities and financial resources to local aspiring developers.

Stops to local, neighborhood-based eateries and additional tour stops TBA!

We are currently accepting applications for our next multidisciplinary cohort of participants to join us in Philadelphia on October 25-26, 2019.

Join us for an in-depth dive into Philly’s rich tapestry of neighborhoods and development. Fees will be determined on a sliding scale — see the USJ brochure for details. There are also limited partial scholarships available.

Also, be on the lookout for a Junket in Cleveland, OH, in Spring 2020.
