Design Activist Institute

In the wake of the recent college admissions scandal, amidst deepening inequality in Philadelphia, the continuing student debt crisis, and issues of representation and diversity in design, the Design Activist Institute seeks to create radical new movements in design and self-determination. This year’s workshops will explore how we can support and empower each other as design practitioners of all levels of experience through critique, skill-sharing, and discussion while designing for resistance movements.

Through this exercise, we will learn how we might liberate the means of self-improvement, by fostering an environment in which we all learn from one another. Together, we will facilitate a discussion about creativity, access, sovereignty, education, and betterment — what do each of those mean to you?

These workshops are open to all who hope to make a difference in the world, not just professional designers and artists. Visit http://designactivistinstitute.org for more information and to register. The workshops occur every other Thursday evening through the summer from June 13 to August 22.
