AIGA Philly Student Groups
Form a Campus Community!
AIGA Philadelphia supports the formation of student groups at colleges and universities to engage students in the local design community and build leadership skills for their professional future. We encourage these groups to organize trips to AIGA Philly programming throughout the school year, as well as develop their own programming, events and/or activities.
How to Create a Student Group
- Find a faculty advisor and form a club with your college/university. Fill out any necessary application materials with your college/university. You many name the club: AIGA [School] student group or [School] AIGA student group
- Faculty Advisor: fill out these two registration forms – AIGA Philly Student Group Agreement and Faculty Advisor Agreement. You will be the designated coordinator between the group and AIGA Philly. You will also receive a tentative calendar of upcoming events from AIGA Philly.
- Each student should sign up for a student membership. Make sure to select AIGA Philadelphia as your local chapter during sign up.
Tips for Success
- Student groups can be as casual or as formal as you would like.
- Have regular meetings with a mission or goal in mind for the school year
- Student groups are responsible for your own programs and fundraising, with the Faculty Advisor managing the group’s finances.
- Student groups should plan your own programming and events that:
- Complement AIGA Philly’s events and programs
- Are local and engages student participation
- Volunteer for AIGA Philly events and/or activities
- Keep it simple, inexpensive and fun
- Faculty Advisor should be the main point of contact between a student group and AIGA Philly
