Exposed: A Design Lecture Series – Alina Wheeler Lectures at The University of the Arts, co-sponsored by AIGA Philadelphia
Since 1966, the Graphic Design Department at The University of the Arts has sponsored lectures by architects, designers, and provocateurs, among them Louis Kahn, Paul Rand, April Greiman, Dan Friedman, Nathan Felde, Hugh Dubberly, Irma Boom, Matthew Carter, Dan Boyarski, Rosemary Tissi, Liz Sanders, Jorge Frascara, Jodi Forlizzi, and Keith Godard, among others. The great majority of the lecturers have been designers-in-residence in the Department of Graphic Design at the University at the time of their lecture, and this year is no exception. In 2011, the University returns to its roots in preciding at the founding of the Philadelphia chapter of AIGA with its collaborative sponsorship of lectures, a fruitful partnership that marked the Philadelphia design scene of the 90s.   Alina Wheeler “Branding the Future.” Alina Wheeler is a branding consultant and author. Her book Designing Brand Identity: An essential guide for the whole branding team (Wiley) is the best selling global resource for businesses and nonprofits. She collaborated with Joel Katz to create Brand Atlas, the only brand resource that diagrams marketplace dynamics and brand fundamentals. Wheeler uses her strategic imagination and disciplined process to work with organizations big and small. She is a contributor to Identity Forum, and is a former AIGA national board member, AIGA Philadelphia president, and AIGA fellow. She was an advisory council member for The Dictionary of Brand, edited by Marty Neumeier, along with Seth Godin, Al Ries, and Tom Kelley.
