During the Retreat

SPACE, AIGA Philadelphia’s headquarters will be hosting Gritty Semiotics: A History of Design in Philadelphia. AIGA Philadelphia explores the soul of a place, through the historical context of graphic design in Philadelphia, in an exhibition showcasing Philadelphia works both contemporary and historical.

SPACE’s hours will extended to acommodate lunch time visits and a Thursday, May 30th, morning welcome breakfast from 9 – 11 and anyone hanging around Sunday morning after check out. A simple 10 minute from the Sheraton; 72 North 2nd Street (at Arch Street).

The vast array of submissions has been narrowed down to the top 100, representing the best talent Philadelphia has to offer. Now its time to celebrate! Join us on Wednesday May 29 at the TRUST building in Old City, as the PDAs take center stage during the 2013 AIGA Leadership retreat.

WIX-A-THON

Join AIGA Philadelphia members and designers from all over the country while watching a competition using wix.com templates. Designers will battle to be declared the after-hours Design Champion of this year’s National Retreat. Great food, beer and other beverages will be served.

Philly Beer Week | Find the Groundhog!

It’s the 1st day of Philly Beer Week, one of the nation’s largest beer festivals. Show your AIGA member card or conference badge at the Irish Pol for their famous Happy Hour special, almost any draft for $3. The Irish Pol has over 40 taps.

Enjoy $2 and $3 drink specials and live grooves by O Yeah Entertainment, or kick back in the 2nd floor lounge, reserved for the evening. Learn more about our new collaboration, “Lots of Power”, a mentorship programs tackling the community problem of vacant lots around Philadelphia.

About Lots of Power

This summer, wind power company Clean Currents, will kick off Lots of Power, an exciting new mentoring program to address one of Philadelphia’s greatest problems, vacant lots.

AIGA Philadelphia is proud to partner with Clean Currents on this important initiative, along with Kensington Renewal and the Delaware Valley Green Building Council. The program will pair professional designers and architects with high school-age students to research and develop innovative solutions for specific vacant lots in Kensington. At the end of the mentoring process, 2-3 projects will be chosen for implementation.
