Community Give Back Connections

C+CE is building relationships and networks throughout Philadelphia to help connect our fellow designers with organizations, creating positive change, in the greater community. We’ve put together a list of volunteer opportunities during this giving seasons—this list is by no means complete, but if you’re looking for a place to start, see our list of suggestions below:

Feed the Hungry

  • MANNA’s Pie in the Sky
Support Manna’s annual Thanksgiving fundraising tradition. Buy your Thanksgiving pies here. Money raised goes directly towards preparing and delivering Thanksgiving dinners and providing year-round services for people with acute nutritional risk from a life-threatening illness such as cancer, chronic kidney disease, HIV/AIDS and more.
  • Coalition Against Hunger
Serve a meal at a soup kitchen, advocate for those who face food insecurity, or lend your professional skills to the coalition. Volunteer days, venues, and hours are flexible and no experience is necessary.
  • Food Connect
Food Connect helps divert food waste while simultaneously providing safe and dignified meals to food insecure people experiencing hunger. If you are having a big event this season, arrange for your caterers to send the leftovers to Operation Food Rescue.

Care for the Environment

  • Schuykill Center for Environmental Education
Help improve the health and biodiversity of the Schuylkill Center’s forest while getting to know the Center’s property, connecting with nature, and making new friends. On Saturday, November 17th or Saturday, January 19th remove invasive plants, plant native species, and help to improve the Center’s trails. No experience necessary—the Center provides gloves, tools, instruction, and snacks.
  • Love Your Park
Love Your Park engages citizens and volunteers in revitalizing Philadelphia’s public green spaces and creating safe, welcoming, and fun recreation opportunities in parks across the city. Fall Service Day engages volunteers to plant trees, collect leaves for compost, and prepare our parks for the winter season. Check out the map of participating parks here.
