Job Description:
The Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in art direction for advertising, starting July 2020.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations includes two undergraduate majors—in public relations and in advertising—with minors in both areas. The advertising major has more than 500 undergraduate students across five tracks: Copywriting, Art Direction, Brand Strategy and Research, Account Management, and Media Planning. The department supports the Temple Ad Club (a division of AAF), the oldest PRSSA chapter in the region, a nationally affiliated student-run public relations firm—PRowl Public Relations—and the only student chapter of the Black Public Relations Society. The department’s student organizations garner numerous awards each year. The faculty in the Advertising and Public Relations department contribute to an M.S. in Strategic Advertising and Marketing, which is offered in partnership with Temple’s Fox School of Business, and an online M.S. in Communication Management. Department faculty also contribute to the Doctoral Program in Media and Communication.

The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication is among the largest comprehensive colleges of communication in the nation. The college houses four departments: Advertising and Public Relations, Communication and Social Influence, Journalism, and Media Studies and Production. Other graduate degrees across the college include a Master of Journalism, an M.A. in Media Studies and Production, an M.S. in Globalization and Development, and a Ph.D. in Media and Communication. The college enrolls nearly 3,000 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students. The university community at large includes over 40,000 students in the region and at several international campuses. Temple is a Carnegie Research University (highest research activity, or R1). For more information about the department, college, and university, please visit http://klein.temple.edu.

The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication was the 2018 recipient of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Equity & Diversity Award, honoring the college’s commitment to inclusion. Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities:
A non-tenure-track position carries an expectation of excellent teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department and to Klein College through service, which will include developing curriculum, serving on committees, and advising student organizations.
