With a 13 to 1 student to faculty ratio, TCNJ seeks to enroll approximately 1,375 entering, full-time freshmen each fall, 95 percent of whom live on campus.

Department and Job Responsibilities:

The Department of Art & Art History is committed to providing programs of study which develop a high level of conceptual and technical ability, resources beyond the studio for a broader education in the arts, exposure to and understanding of digital media and methods of communication, and a balance between a demanding course of professional study and a liberal arts education.

Our department is currently seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach “AAV252 Typography” for the fall 2016 semester. AAV252 Typography explores two-dimensional forms as a foundation for visual communication. Its an introduction to the discipline, function, history, and impact of typography in graphic design. Assignments and discussion will address the use of typography as a primary tool in conveying ideas and the impact of letter form manipulation on context and legibility. The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM – 8:20PM. Starting Date August 30, 2016.

We also are seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach “AAV251 Design Fundamentals” for the fall 2015 semester. AAV251 Design Fundamentals explores two-dimensional forms as a foundation for visual communication. Emphasis will be placed upon visual perception, organization skills, and historical context. This course examines how we communicate abstract ideas through image and text. AAV251 is the first graphic design course for our majors and minors. The class meets on Mondays & Thursday from 8:00am to 10:50am. Starting Date August 25, 2015.

Requirements:

Applicants with a MFA in graphic design are preferred, but those who hold a BFA from an accredited institution with substantial professional practice and previous teaching experience will be considered on the basis of a review of their work. A successful candidate should have broad knowledge and understanding of approaches in current graphic design methodologies as well as 20th Century historical development. Vita must demonstrate active participation in the field of graphic design, with a conceptual approach to production.
