Overview

The Terrain creative team is looking to hire a highly motivated jr. web designer with strong graphic and interactive skills. The candidate must demonstrate excellent design ability, thrive under challenging deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Fluency in industry standard software is a must, as is proven aptitude in coding HTML, CSS and familiarity with javascript. You must be capable of working as part of an interdisciplinary team but willing to show initiative and take ownership of your role. Terrain is under the Urban Outfitters Inc. umbrella.

Responsibilities

  • Design compelling marketing emails, web assets, and online ads for http://www.shopterrain.com/
  • Responsible for UX design and updates for http://www.shopterrain.com/
  • Research and participate in creating seasonal design looks pertaining to typography, layout and design
  • Create monthly branding assets for social media outlets
  • Liaising with copywriters, merchandisers and ecommerce team to maintain consistent brand messaging on site
  • Work closely with team to execute the Art Director’s design direction
  • Work with Art Director to improve existing and develop new online web strategies

Qualifications

  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac platform
  • Experience with photo retouching
  • Proven knowledge of front-end technologies (i.e. HTML, CSS, javascript)
  • Understanding of composition, color, and design theory
  • Ability to create assets in a variety of methods from hand-drawn to digital
  • Must comprehend logical page structure, readability, visual hierarchy and balance
  • Familiarity with mobile and responsive design a plus
  • Must possess acute attention to detail
  • A love of solving problems and collaboration
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal skills
  • Be comfortable with late-changing requirements and tight deadlines and respond well to feedback

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
