Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the art director, the graphic designer is responsible for supporting the creative efforts for design services and products for the department of Development and Alumni Relations, Marketing and Communications (DARMAX) that interfaces with all 12 schools and six centers at Penn. This role will design a wide range of creative projects according to specifications, working under the guidance of the art director and the assistant director of graphic communications. This includes developing layouts for publications, infographics, event invitations and programs, logo creation, fundraising proposals and case statements, and the creation of email marketing assets and e-newsletter templates, and graphics, in adherence with University of Pennsylvania brand standards. This position will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining DAR’s asset management system (Widen) and assisting users with uploading and categorizing files. The graphic designer should be able to work collaboratively, taking direction from the art director and assistant director to develop creative assets that inspire, inform, and engage. The graphic designer must also have an aptitude for learning new design technologies and the ability to be innovative with creative assets, particularly in the digital landscape. In addition, this position will need to understand or be able to learn the process to prepare files for printing and manage production for print projects. This position requires a minimum of 1-2 years working professionally in the graphic design field and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a high-performing, fast-paced team at Penn.
Job Description:
Targeted Pay Range: $37,220-$55,000
This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting. All salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist art director and assistant director of graphic communications in designing or producing print collateral, including publications, event invitations, programs, proposals, and brochures, following graphic guidelines appropriate for Penn and DAR standards.
- Creates graphic elements as requested by DAR colleagues in schools, centers, and central units, including logos, infographics, ads, and other branding elements with oversight from the Art Director.
- Designs emails for university-wide, all-constituent mass-email event promotions and e-newsletters.
- Responsible for maintaining the digital asset management system Widen and ensuring photographs captured across DARMAX are uploaded and appropriately cataloged in a timely fashion.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, digital media, or a closely related field, with 1-2 years of graphic design experience.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and javascript
- Experience working in broadcast email and utilizing/managing content for CMS website (content management system).
- Portfolio required.
- Ability/desire to proactively remain current on emerging technologies and communications trends.
- Knowledge of photography for use in web or print design is a plus.
- Must be highly organized and comfortable working within a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment on multiple assignments.

Hybrid Eligible – This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a work week divided between working onsite and working remotely.
Pay Range:
$37,220.00 – $56,087.33
