Position: Junior Production Designer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Website: Quirk Books

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Quirk Books is seeking a Junior Production Designer to join their team, reporting to the Art Director. This position’s responsibilities include creating templates, assisting with book cover and interior layouts and revisions, and ensuring production files are prepared to the highest standards. While this is primarily a production position, a design background is required.

Qualifications:

  • Very strong skills in InDesign
  • Skills in Photoshop and Illustrator are also a must, as is (obviously) a strong attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple projects independently
  • should have thorough knowledge in preparing files for 4-color printing, and adhere to best practices for file/server organization

Quirk is a fast-paced but also fun and creatively fulfilling environment. We only publish 25 titles a year and each is a labor of love, so your passion and enthusiasm are essential. Because we’re a small team, being self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently or collaboratively, is crucial. Bonus points for really liking books a lot and being nice.

Some of our more popular recent titles include the bestselling YA fantasy novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the Edgar Award-winning mystery The Last Policeman, the legendary Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and classroom favorite William Shakespeare’s Star Wars. Our books are distributed worldwide by Penguin Random House.

Quirk is headquartered on a quiet cobblestone street in the historic Old City district of Philadelphia. This full-time position offers salary, health/dental/vision benefits, 401k, a casual work environment, and a generous vacation policy. Visit our website at quirkbooks.com.
