SORRY WE’RE CLOSED
ABOUT EXHIBIT
A poster project supporting LGBTQ human rights
Sorry We’re Closed is an awareness project by designer and educator, Kelly Holohan that follows in the footsteps of LGBT design activists such as the art collective, Gran Fury, whose bold designs in the 80s and early 90s communicated the urgency of the AIDS epidemic at a time when there was no government or political action.
This body of work is designed to bring attention to LGBTQ human rights around the world. Some of the works focus on issues and legislation surrounding employment, marriage, privacy and acceptance. Others illuminate the terrifying life and death obstacles that many people face every single day
“It takes no compromise to give people their rights…it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.” —Harvey Milk
