Since the summer of 2018, AIGA Philadelphia has awarded an annual $2,500 scholarship to deserving local design students in need of financial assistance. We recently launched this year’s fundraising campaign for the scholarship, however, given the current climate surrounding COVID-19, we have decided to postpone fundraising and, subsequently, the application process for the 2020 AIGA Philadelphia Scholarship Fund until the fall. While we remain committed to supporting future generations of designers, we are sensitive to the hardships our communities are currently experiencing and feel it’s inappropriate to ask for donations during these uncertain times.
In the past, we counted solely on generous donations from individuals to reach our fundraising goal. However, to enhance our efforts this year, we also planned a lecture by Emily Oberman of Pentagram this spring, with all funds dedicated to the scholarship. We are working to reschedule for the fall and we will announce it once we have a new date.
If you would like to donate and are in a position to do so, we accept donations year-round through our online giving page. If you are a student interested in applying for the scholarship, please keep an eye on our website and our email announcements—we will announce the application process late this summer or early fall. We expect to restore the regular cycle for the following year with applications in the spring of 2021.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your support and patience.
