Tell us a little about yourself. Do you have a plan for after graduation?
I just received my B.S. in Graphic Design Communication from Philadelphia University! After graduating I will be working at Vanguard as a part of their summer design program. Beyond that, I hope to pursue a full time career in the Philadelphia area.
Why design? What inspires you to do the work you do?
Design in my mind is being able to use creativity to solve a problem. I find that to be challenging but ultimately rewarding. The fact that design can make experiences easier and more enjoyable inspires me.
How long have you been an AIGA member?
I’m pretty new to the community, I’ve been a member for close to a year now.
Why did you join AIGA?
I joined AIGA to be more involved with the Philadelphia design community and make more connections in the area. I felt that AIGA would be be a valuable tool to have both during school and beyond.
How have you benefited from your AIGA membership?
Being able to attend AIGA events in Philly at a discounted rate has been awesome. Also the AIGA job board has been a great resource, especially for someone headed out into the workforce!
What do you enjoy most about the Philadelphia Chapter of AIGA? And about your student chapter?
The Philadelphia Chapter of AIGA is a really close-knit community. I feel like everyone knows each other through at least one mutual connection. When it comes to our student chapter at Philadelphia University, it has really blossomed over the past year! I enjoy being able to interact with design students from each grade and being able to take field trips as a group. Last fall we visited a local letterpress studio and participated in a hands-on workshop there.
